There Is Always Something or Someone to be Thankful For

It is easy to get caught up in the busyness of life.

Studies show that being mindful of what you are thankful for and even making the effort to thank someone can improve your happiness level.

Take a moment to reflect on what and who you are thankful for.

Here are some prompts you can use to help you dig deeper inside. If you notice negative thoughts arising when you first read any of the prompts, just accept them and look past them to find positive things that you can feel grateful for. Notice how you feel before you begin. Take a few quiet minutes this week to reflect on the following prompts.

Prompts – Write your answers down!

  • Think of 10 people or things you’re thankful for and share why they mean so much.

  • Reflect on something you feel especially grateful for right now.

  • Identify someone who makes your life brighter and explain how they do.

  • Send a thank-you note, text, or email to express your appreciation.

  • Consider the aspects of your health that fill you with gratitude.

  • Share what makes your home a source of comfort or joy.

  • Note three ways your financial situation brings you a sense of gratitude.

  • Explore three parts of your work life that make you feel thankful.

  • Appreciate five qualities or moments connected to your family that you’re thankful for.

  • Jot down two things about yourself that you truly appreciate.

  • Reflect on what you value most about this current chapter of your life.

  • Recall one thing that happened today that you’re thankful for.

  • Name three foods you love and feel grateful to enjoy.

  • Acknowledge three aspects of your values and beliefs that bring you strength or peace.

  • Celebrate three elements of nature that fill you with gratitude.

  • Recognize something you deeply appreciate that others might take for granted.

Notice what if anything has changed about the way you feel now that you have finished this exercise.
